Dr Belinda Thewes is a clinical and research psychologist currently employed as a National Breast Cancer Foundation Post-Doctoral Research Fellow with the Centre for Medical Psychology and Evidence-Based Decision-Making, School of Psychology, University of Sydney. Her research has focussed on the study of fear of cancer recurrence (FCR) in breast cancer survivors.
In 2005 she completed a Ph.D at the Prince of Wales Hospital Clinical School, University of NSW, which examined the fertility- and menopause-related information needs of young women with breast cancer. In 2008 she was a NSW Cancer Institute Clinical Fellow and has worked as a clinical psychologist with cancer patients in both metropolitan and rural areas.
Her other research interests include issues facing young adults with cancer, communication about mental health issues within the multi-disciplinary cancer care setting, psychosocial screening and psychosocial aspects of hereditary cancer.
