Stirling Moorey is a Consultant Medical Psychotherapist and Professional Head of Psychotherapy at South London and Maudsley NHS Trust. He is co-author with Dr Steven Greer of "The Oxford Guide to CBT for people with Cancer" and has written on many aspects of cognitive behaviour therapy including its application to physical illness and adversity in general. His research was initially on the efficacy of psychological treatment in early stage cancer but in the last 10 years has been focused on the palliative care population investigating the feasibility of very brief interventions and the dissemination of CBT to non-mental health workers. He has many years experience of teaching CBT to a range of professionals and is part of the Marie-Curie funded initiative to train palliative care practitioners in "first aid" CBT techniques.
